Out & About
Whether your sense of adventure means adrenalin infused single track down hills, walking a fynbos trail spotting sun birds or lying in a hot tub gazing at the Milky Way, Beloftebos is the place for you! The exhilarating MTB and running trails are indeed worth the drive. Combine that with a gourmet restaurant experience, wine or beer tasting at a local cellar or brewery or doing a sour bread baking course on a nearby organic farm, and your soul will be fed.
The breathtaking Beloftebos Trails was born out of passion. Some years ago the Cape Epic passed through the farm – an indication of our area for mountain bikers. Since then more than 20km of breathtaking single track (and we are still building more) has been built. These friendly, yet challenging trails form part of the Ultimate Southern Pass Trail (USP), a joint effort with neighbours Stanford Valley. The trails wind over streams and through fynbos and through various oak groves, among them the oak forest that hosts Beloftebos Wedding Venue. Enjoy the recently built pump track next to the dam and build your own signature section if staying for the weekend!
Put on your running shoes and come and experience the numerous trails. Various loops allows for short easy runs as well as long runs with substantial climbs. Without being crowded, the trails are both beautiful and safe and offer a range of mountainous trails, shady forest and dirt road to explore. The trails have been used by Stellenbosch Triathlon Squad in 2019 for a training camp.
With the already 127 species of birds identified by various bird clubs, the farm is ideal for the keen birdwatchers. Walks vary from easy 3km loops to hiking over the mountain (USP trail) to enjoy breakfast at Manor House Restaurant – a 2-3 hour hike - depending on the route taken. Spot the bat-eared fox and blue cranes on the Boplaas route, listen for fish the fish eagles near Eddie’s Corner and Stroomop and count the sun birds and tortoises in the fynbos veld. Make a special request at the farmer and pick your own bunch of fynbos or take a tractor ride up the mountain.
